Drooling is more common while sleeping, it occurs for many reasons. It often occurs when a person swallows less frequently, causing saliva to accumulate and seep out from one side of the mouth.

Drooling psychosocial impacts on a person’s life, it can be embarrassing especially for adults and also affect the self-esteem.

Ways To Stop Drooling and Improve Your Sleep

1. Change The Way You Sleep

People often drool while they sleep, especially when they sleep on their sides. If you are among this group of people, try sleeping on your back. prevent saliva from seeping out of the mouth. You can also use a wedge pillow, it can help you stay in one position as you sleep.

Sleeping on your side or on your stomach makes you more prone to excessive drooling.

2. Treat Any sinus problems or Allergies

Sinus infections can cause stuffy nose and increase in saliva production. When you have a stuffy nose, it can make you to breath through your mouth and making it easier to drool. If sinus allergies or infections is the cause of your drooling, then treating the condition will help to eliminate drooling.

3. Eat Lemon Few Mins Before Bedtime

If you want to make your saliva thinner, and stop or reduce excessive drooling, then eating a slice of lemon could do the magic due to the strong concentration of citrus.

5. Take Medications

There are some Medications that interfere with the salivary glands which can one to stop drooling at night or day. The most commonly medication of all is called Scopolamine, also known as Hyoscine. This drug is used to reduce motion sickness and vomiting, and sometimes given to reduce saliva production.
