8 Super Diets That Lowers High Blood Pressure

Aside medications, diets and exercise can help to naturally treat hypertension . Diets low in sodium and rich in potassium, magnesium and calcium helps to normalize or prevent high blood pressure. Uncontroled high BP can increase risks of heart attack & stroke.

Smoking is a very big risk for people with high blood pressure because the nicotine in cigarettes, raises your heart rate & blood pressure , thereby narrows your arteries. This hardens the artery wall & causes difficulties in blood clotting.

Age also contributes to risk of developing high blood pressure. People who are up to 60 years & above are at risk,  also obese people. One is considered to be at risk of hypertension if your Systolic number is from 120 – 139 and your Diastolic number is from 80 – 89. When you notice this, it’s very important you change your diet and lifestyles in other to prevent developing Heart problems.

Now, what is a Diastolic and Systolic number?

In simple terms, a diastolic number is when the heart muscle is resting between beats, the heart refills with blood. Diastolic number is said to be normal when it’s less than 80.

While Systolic number is when the muscle contracts. It should be higher than the diastolic. It is considered normal when it’s less than 120.

Foods Or Diets that lowers High Blood Preasure

1. Dark Chocolate 

The compounds Flavanols found in dark chocolate, causes dilation of the blood vessels on blood pressure. Consumption of dark can significantly lower high blood pressure


2. Apples

Apples reduces high BP because it’s a great source of Quercetin, a flavonoid that attacks free radicals in the system thus supports the veins. Eat more of apples and keep your BP in check. Remember the popular saying “An apple a day keeps the doctor away”


3. Hibiscus Tea

Now I know many people doesn’t know that hibiscus tea also known as sour tea incredibly lowers high blood pressure. This plant is very rich in Polyphenols, Polysaccharides and Organic Acids which are beneficial for cardiovascular system. If you have been diagnosed of hypertension, you need regular intake of hibiscus tea. (I will talk about how to prepare hibiscus tea in my next post).


4. Olive Oil 

Olive oil is an Omega-9 fatty acid that has been used thousand years ago for it’s incredible nutrients  to boost immunity. It has anti inflammatory, anti oxidant compounds and so many medicinal benefits. It contains phenolic compounds which helps to naturally stable blood pressure. Pure olive oil is considered to be one of the best heart healthy foods. It reduces both systolic & diastolic blood pressure.

Blueberries consists of powerful antioxidants properties Anthocyanins which promotes the release of nitric oxide, the chemical in the artery wall that keeps the blood vessels dilated and relaxed.
